MOBC extends a warm welcome to all, but is organised and run by those who express their commitment to its mission, vision and values by becoming members. Membership is open to any person who professes faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, and subscribes to the Basis of the Church.
One practice that distinguishes Baptist churches from other churches is that of believer's baptism. Baptist churches do not baptise babies, or infants, but rather those who have made a conscious decision to repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ. Consequently many Baptist churches will only admit to membership those who have been baptised as believers by immersion. While MOBC places a high value on the baptism of believers, believing it to be the Biblical pattern, the church will admit to membership those who have been baptised but not as a believer, or those who have been baptised but not by immersion, provided that at the time of application for membership, such persons profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and signify that for them their baptism symbolised their identification with Christ and with the Church as the body of Christ.
