I've followed the FAQ and I'm still having trouble.
How does the email opt-in / opt-out work?
- General emails (Elvanto) are overall emails from MOBC including information for volunteering, event and child registrations, contact from staff, etc. You are opted in when you register with us, so leaders can contact you per our Privacy Policy.
- Scheduling emails (Elvanto) are optional automated Service notifications offered for volunteer rosters, which you can also get as push notifications in the app.
- The Church Directory (Elvanto) is a contact list of all MOBC members over 18. It's accessible by Church members with an Elvanto account.
- The Bulletin and Marketing emails (MailChimp) are our weekly news, event promotions, or devotions. They are automated and handled separately, making it easy for you to subscribe or unsubscribe at any time.
- Personal contact - if you've contacted us personally and you haven't registered with us, we won't share your email without your consent.
You can opt out from anything at any time by contacting us, checking your Elvanto profile, or following the Unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of our emails.
I want to update my contact information.
Update your Elvanto profile, use this form or contact us.
I'm not receiving the Bulletin.
Why? If you have subscribed and received emails before, it's most likely that you accidentally unsubscribed, your details changed, you became an inactive contact, or we didn't schedule one in time for this week. The 'Signup to Our Newsletter' feature on our contact page and footer on our website also doesn't work. We are working on a new website!
Solution: Firstly, check your Junk and that you've provided the right address. Then resubscribe to the bulletin or update your bulletin preferences.
2. Click "Join our mailing list"
3. Enter your details in the resubscription form
4. Check Church News
5. Add any other preferences.
6. Click "Subscribe"
A bulletin should land in your email next Sunday around 8:00am.
You can email contact@mobc.org.au to request a test email or let us know if you're still having trouble.
I'm not receiving emails from *@mobc.org.au.
Why? There are many factors that affect emails, from protocols and filters to us missing you by accident. Most commonly, missing emails are going to Junk.
Solution: Check your details and your email settings.
1. Firstly, check your email address and consents are correct. You can do this by letting us know, or using your Elvanto profile.
Then, using information from your email provider:
2. Check your Junk, Spam or Promotions folders.
3. Search All Emails from mobc.org.au
4. Mark a previous email from us as Not Spam/Not Junk.
5. Review your filters and blocked addresses.
6. Add us to your spam filters using your Safe Senders List.
Elvanto - Check your email address and consents are correct.
2. Go to your Profile by selecting your name, and 'Profile'.
3. Select 'Edit Profile'.
4. Check your details and make sure your email address is correct. If necessary, update your details and hit Save.
5. Select 'Communication Preferences'.
6. Check 'Receive general emails'.
7. Hit Save.
You can also check if your email is included in the Church Directory from the Privacy Settings.

Add us to your Gmail
Use the two help articles from Gmail as a guide to find the email or change your filters to accept email from us.
1. Check your Spam folder or Promotions tab.
2. Search for the email: using the All Mail (Mail & Spam & Trash) setting. Try From: '*@mobc.org.au'
3. Mark as 'Not Spam' on any previous Junk email from us.
4. Check any Filters and Blocked Addresses: for rules applied to any @mobc.org.au address that include 'Block', 'Delete' or 'Skip Inbox'.
- *@mobc.org.au to a Filter via Settings or Search Options
- 'Filter:' Check 'Never Send it to Spam' and save.
Add us to your Outlook
Use the help articles from Microsoft as a guide to find the email or change your rules to accept email from us.
1. Check your Junk folder or 'Other' inbox.
3. Review your rules: Make sure emails from @mobc.org.au are landing in your Inbox or where you need them to go.
Add us to your Telstra Webmail
1. Check your Junk folder: in 'My Email'
2. Mark as 'Not Spam': on any previous Junk email from us. (Spam Email p.3)
3. Search for the email: from mobc.org.au (Find an Email p.2)
4. Review your rules: Make sure emails from @mobc.org.au are landing in your Inbox or where you need them to go. (Add a rule to manage your emails p.4)
5. Add us to your spam filters using your Safe Senders List. Telstra has buried their Safe Senders list documentation, so full steps are below:
Open your Access Settings: Click the gear icon (Settings) in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Navigate to Mail: Under 'Mail', select 'Safe Senders'.
Add the Email Address: In the 'Add email address' field, enter *@mobc.org.au
Click Add: Press the Add button to add the address to your safe senders list.
Add us to your Optus Email
OptusNet is undergoing an upgrade, so information is currently unavailable.
Search your settings for a Safe Senders List.
I have a Telstra or Optus email. There's nothing in my Junk.
Free email domains and Australian Telcos have to implement intensive anti-spam and data protections, so if your email address ends in bigpond.com, telstra.com or optusnet.com.au you may be unable to receive emails from us, even to your Junk.
Solution: You may fix this by adding us to your Safe Senders list (see above).
We have attempted to contact Telstra and Optus regarding this issue but they have not provided any other options. If you’re still experiencing issues, let us know. You may need to call your provider's Support, or we can discuss other solutions.
I've tried 'Add to Contacts' or 'Mark as Not Spam', it didn't work.
Why? Contacts identify who an email has been sent by, not how. Mark as Not Spam is a weak anti-junk method.
Solution: Try adding us to your Safe Senders List (see above).
I've followed the FAQ and I'm still having trouble.
If you've followed the steps above and are still experiencing email issues, please email
contact@mobc.org.au.
