Run for the Rohingya Refugees
April 29 2018,
MOBC will again enter a walk/run/stroller team in the Oatley Park Fun Run this year to raise fundraise support for the Rohingya refugees.
We're keen to hear from you if you'd like to participate in the MOBC Run For Refugee Team: Pounding the pavement for 1km, 2.5km or 5km. You can express your interest by contacting the church office.
You can also sponsor the team below.
Why are we running?
We are compelled by the example and words of Jesus Christ to show love, mercy and compassion to the hundreds of thousands of people seeking refuge who have been left without food or clean drinking water and to help them rebuild their lives.
In the early hours of 25 August 2017, violence broke out in the Rakhine State in Myanmar and left over 600,000 Rohingya refugees forced to flee for their safety and their lives. Many Rohingya refugees were already living in poverty in Myanmar, but now they have seen their homes burned to the ground, destroyed and their beloved relatives brutally killed. They have had to run for their lives and are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
How can I help?
By sponsoring an MOBC team member in the Oatley Park Fun Run, you will be supporting Baptist World Aid and its Christian field partner, Medair, to provide life-saving emergency relief to those refugees who have been left with nothing. Your gift will help provide shelter and shelter training to help keep men, women, and children safe.
Your generosity matters to the Rohingya refugees and gives them a glimpse of hope.
Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
